Oyo State Teachers Union Demands Rescue of Kidnapped Headmaster

The NUT in Oyo State has called for the immediate rescue of M.K. Owoade, a primary school headmaster abducted by gunmen while on his farm in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

The Oyo State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has voiced significant alarm following the kidnapping of a primary school administrator in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area. Union leaders Fatai Hassan and Salami Olukayode issued a statement in Ibadan on Monday, urging authorities to ensure the captive’s swift return.

The victim is identified as M.K. Owoade, who leads the Nomadic Basic School in Ogodu, Igbojaye. Gunmen captured him on Saturday evening around 5:00 p.m. while he was at his farm. The union received word of this development from their local representatives in Itesiwaju.

Highlighting this event as a worrying sign of the insecurity faced by educators nationwide, the NUT called upon federal and state authorities, alongside security forces, to ramp up rescue operations and bolster protection for schools. The union extended its support to the victim’s family and students, urging all teachers to stay alert during these challenging times.
