Students and faculty members kidnapped in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu for his role in securing their release. The group returned to safety this past Tuesday following a harrowing ordeal that lasted more than 50 days.
The victims were originally abducted on May 15, 2026. The situation was marked by tragedy when one teacher was killed by the captors early on, creating significant concern for the safety of those remaining in captivity. Upon their release, one teacher spoke on behalf of the group, addressing the President as a father figure and expressing deep appreciation for his dedication to their rescue. They also extended gratitude to the security forces, crediting the efforts of these operatives for their survival.
