The Kano State Special Taskforce Committee on Illegal Structures has once again shuttered a block manufacturing plant located near the Zaria Road flyover. This action follows reports that the operators persisted with building work, including the installation of a large gate, despite receiving an official notice to halt all operations.
Dr. Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, the committee chairman and Director-General of the Kano Geographic Information System (KANGIS), denounced the move as a breach of legal standards. He emphasized that continuing construction on a government-sealed site is strictly prohibited and will result in consequences. The committee’s mission is to foster structured urban growth, bolster security, and ensure environmental safety across the state.
Operations are currently running continuously, including weekends, to enforce land administration regulations. Dr. Sani noted that public support has been vital, as many citizens have begun reporting unauthorized developments. He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to professional conduct and warned that those violating building codes will face prosecution. Developers are encouraged to secure proper permits before beginning any project.
Furthermore, the committee identified and sealed an unauthorized building project at the Dangauro Market. The site lacked the necessary documentation and occupied land owned by the state. The individual responsible has been summoned to the KANGIS office for questioning, with the threat of legal action pending their cooperation.
