Tinubu praises Wike for Abuja City Gate renovation as symbol of national growth

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the upgraded Abuja City Gate, commending Minister Nyesom Wike for his infrastructure efforts during the FCT’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the newly renovated Abuja City Gate, describing the structure as a lasting testament to national unity and progress. Represented by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the President lauded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for his dedication to upgrading the capital’s infrastructure.

During the event, which coincided with the administration’s third anniversary and the FCT’s Golden Jubilee, the President noted that the project reflects his government’s commitment to creating a world-class capital. He highlighted the new water fountain, which represents the 36 states and the FCT, as a sign of Nigeria’s diversity and shared goals.

Minister Wike revealed that the renovation was initiated after the President questioned the neglected state of the iconic landmark. Wike worked alongside the Federal Capital Development Authority and Julius Berger to complete the project, which includes significant underground engineering and modern lighting. The FCT Minister emphasized that he was determined to finish the task despite challenging weather conditions.

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State for the FCT, praised the project as a milestone in the city’s urban renewal. President Tinubu urged residents to take pride in the facility and treat it as shared public property that requires collective preservation.
