A Kano State High Court has cautioned Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Babagana Bukar, based at the Zone 1 Headquarters on BUK Road, regarding potential contempt charges. This warning stems from his alleged refusal to honor a court directive concerning a contested property.
Justice Aisha Mahmoud addressed the issue during a hearing focused on House No. QA-270, situated in the Panisau area of Ungogo. The legal battle was initiated by Abba Shittu Sharubutu against several defendants, including Isiyaku Auwalu, the Nigeria Police Force, and ACP Bukar. Back in April 2026, Justice Yusuf Ubale had mandated that all involved parties preserve the status quo regarding the residence pending a formal ruling. However, the court was informed that ACP Bukar reportedly compelled residents to leave the premises, directly contradicting that injunction.
Justice Mahmoud stated that ignoring judicial instructions compromises the integrity of the court system. She clarified that the officer faces the possibility of incarceration if he persists in violating the order. The proceedings are scheduled to resume on July 13, 2026.
