Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, has advocated for the nationwide implementation of electronic voting machines. Speaking at the presentation of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission’s 2026-2030 strategic plan, he argued that moving away from manual ballots is essential for a more efficient and transparent democratic process.
Drawing on his past role as a commissioner for KAD-SIECOM, Bamalli cited his observations from visits to China, Brazil, and the United States as evidence of the system’s effectiveness. He noted that Kaduna previously achieved rapid results and minimized tampering risks by utilizing this technology. He urged electoral officials to treat the adoption of these machines as a vital investment for the future of the nation.
Hajara Mohammed, the current KAD-SIECOM chairperson, confirmed that their new strategic framework aims to bolster public trust while addressing challenges like voter apathy and logistics.
