Military forces eliminate eight suspected terrorists in Katsina ambush

A joint military operation in Katsina State successfully intercepted eight suspected terrorists, preventing a planned attack on motorists along the Kakumi–Guga Road.

Soldiers from the 17 Brigade, acting under Operation Fansan Yamma, collaborated with hybrid security teams to thwart a planned assault on travelers on the Kakumi–Guga Road in Katsina State’s Bakori Local Government Area. Eight suspects were killed during the intervention.

Intelligence reports provided by security insiders to reporter Zagazola Makama indicated that insurgents aligned with leader Idi Abasu Aiki were organizing an ambush against motorists. The attackers were spotted approaching the location on five motorcycles.

Upon receiving this information, security forces established an ambush point. During the subsequent firefight, eight of the militants were neutralized. Forces recovered two AK-47 rifles and the five motorcycles used by the group during a post-engagement sweep.

Patrols remain active in the region to guard against potential reprisals. This action is part of a broader strategy by Operation Fansan Yamma to limit militant mobility and enhance regional stability throughout the North-West.
