A joint security mission spearheaded by the Department of State Services has achieved significant results in recent counter-insurgency efforts across Imo State. The initiative resulted in the deaths of two prominent Eastern Security Network commanders and the total dismantling of multiple insurgent hideouts.
Official reports indicate the operation focused on camps associated with widely known militant figures Ifeanyi Okorienta-Eze, also called Gentle de Yahoo, and Monday Oluchi Ogu, known as B44. The two commanders neutralized in the raids were identified as Solomon Akarachukwu Alisiobi, nicknamed Maddox, and Chima Azubuogu, alias Akajiofor.
The DSS served as the primary intelligence provider, working closely with other security forces to ensure the mission’s success. These ongoing military and tactical offensives have severely hampered the militant group’s ability to coordinate attacks, effectively fracturing their leadership hierarchy.
Regional stakeholders credit these intelligence-led maneuvers for the noticeable decrease in violence throughout Imo State recently. By stripping the network of its combat effectiveness and causing internal instability among remaining members, authorities have helped restore a sense of safety for the local population. This achievement represents a major step in the broader effort to stabilize the South-East region.
