He believes these officials offer no real value and are negatively impacting the unity fostered by the national team. Odegbami insists that purging the Nigeria Football Federation of these individuals is a national priority rather than a personal agenda.
Missing out on the 2026 World Cup carries a heavy financial toll for Nigeria. The NFF loses at least $10.5 million in FIFA funding, which accounts for nearly 87 percent of their anticipated annual budget. Furthermore, the country faces significant losses regarding sponsorships, broadcast revenue, and the global visibility of its players. Odegbami maintains that a nation with Nigeria’s football history should view World Cup qualification as a basic requirement.
