A truck carrying passengers triggered an improvised explosive device near Komala village in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to one fatality and leaving nine others wounded. Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported that the blast occurred around 1:30 p.m. on July 2 as the vehicle, operated by Isa Uba, traveled from Maiduguri to Damboa.
Authorities believe Boko Haram or ISWAP militants planted the explosive along the roadway. One individual perished instantly, while nine other passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to severe. A collaborative security team—including military soldiers, police, explosive ordnance experts, the civilian joint task force, and local hunters—arrived quickly to secure the area.
The injured were transported to a medical facility for urgent care. The victim was pronounced dead by a physician and subsequently released to family members for traditional Islamic burial services. After securing the site, security forces initiated search operations throughout the vicinity to mitigate the threat of additional violence.
