The Nigeria Police Force has successfully obtained convictions for two individuals linked to terrorism following a significant arms smuggling bust in Katsina State. Force Public Relations Officer Anietie Iniedu confirmed the outcome on Friday, underscoring the organization’s dedication to seeing criminal investigations through to legal resolution.
The suspects, identified as Abdussalam Muhammad and Aminu Mamman, were initially apprehended by Katsina police officers while traveling on the Ingawa–Karkarku Road. The authorities discovered a substantial collection of illegal weapons, including a PKT machine gun and thousands of rounds of ammunition for both PKT and AK-47 firearms, alongside the transport vehicle.
Following a thorough inquiry, the men were arraigned at the Federal High Court in Katsina under case number FHC/KT/84C/2025. They faced five counts, including criminal conspiracy and providing support to terrorists. After a trial featuring witness testimony and physical evidence, the court returned a guilty verdict on all charges. Each individual received a five-year sentence for the first count and twenty-year sentences for each of the remaining four counts. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu praised the investigative and legal teams for their thorough work and reaffirmed the police force’s mission to dismantle arms trafficking networks and uphold national security.
