The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded the immediate removal of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, following serious corruption allegations. The party contends that Gbajabiamila is linked to Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to lead the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC)—a body the Presidency insists does not exist.
Osa Director, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement urging President Tinubu to suspend his Chief of Staff to ensure an impartial investigation. The party questions how this non-existent agency allegedly secured 2026 budget allocations and maintained various accounts, including a Treasury Single Account, at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Furthermore, the NDC highlighted claims that the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation approved 314 staff positions for the fictitious organization.
Specific accusations from Adeyemi suggest he paid N600 million to secure his position, with N400 million reportedly funneled through intermediaries to Gbajabiamila. Allegations also state that the Chief of Staff requested 48 percent of the agency’s take-off grant, which Adeyemi reportedly refused. The situation is further complicated by security concerns, including the death of intermediary Babatunde Tanimola in an Abuja hotel fire and claims of multiple assassination attempts on Adeyemi.
The NDC is calling for an independent investigative panel and has urged the EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force to launch a comprehensive probe. They demand the questioning of officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Accountant-General’s office, and the Head of Civil Service to determine how such administrative and financial operations were authorized for a non-existent entity.
