INEC Confirms 2.33 Million Registered Voters for Osun Governorship Election

INEC has officially registered 2,333,233 voters for the upcoming August 15 governorship election in Osun State, releasing the data to political parties to promote transparency.

With the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a total of 2,333,233 registered voters. This figure was officially released by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, during an event in Osogbo on Thursday where electronic voter registers were handed over to political parties.

Babalola explained that this action complies with Sections 19 and 20 of the Electoral Act, 2026 (As Amended), which requires INEC to maintain and share voter records to ensure a transparent and credible process. Providing these registers allows parties to verify voter data, strategize their campaigns, and engage with the public effectively.

Data from the commission highlights that Osogbo Local Government leads the state with 167,704 voters, followed by Ife-East at 128,515 and Olorunda with 123,063. Conversely, the local governments with the smallest populations of registered voters are Ifedayo (28,361), Boluwaduro (29,797), and Atakumosa-West (44,076).
