The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially refuted claims suggesting it is pursuing alliances with rival political organizations for the upcoming 2027 elections. Abraham Amah, the state party chairman, clarified the party’s stance during a press event at the Umuahia secretariat on Thursday.
Amah emphasized that the PDP remains a cohesive and powerful entity, asserting that any individuals proposing partnerships are not authorized representatives of the party. He confirmed that the organization has already submitted its list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and intends to compete independently. According to Amah, there are no existing agreements with external political groups at either the state or national level.
Addressing internal concerns, the chairman stated that the party is free from factionalism and is currently focused on reconciling members who were dissatisfied with the primary results. During the same briefing, PDP gubernatorial candidate Kelechi Anosike pledged to implement a N90,000 minimum wage for civil servants if he wins the governorship. He also criticized the current administration’s payment practices, claiming that the existing N70,000 minimum wage policy is not being applied consistently across the state.
