President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate expansion of road networks across various Federal Capital Territory (FCT) communities. During the commissioning of the 16-kilometre Old Keffi Road—which connects Kado Fish Market to Dei-Dei Junction via Life Camp—the President asserted that his government is committed to eliminating the trend of neglected public projects in the capital.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President announced the approval of a new road construction project for the Kaba, Kagini, and Zaudna communities. This decision followed a direct appeal from local residents who displayed banners illustrating the poor state of their local transport routes. The President emphasized that his Renewed Hope Agenda focuses on inclusivity, ensuring that development reaches all districts rather than just the city center.
The rehabilitated Old Keffi Road, built by Lubrik Construction Company Limited, serves as a vital economic link for residents in areas such as Saburi, Gwagwa, and Idu. Tinubu praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his efficient oversight, noting that the administration prioritizes performance and reliability. The President urged residents to safeguard the new infrastructure, specifically warning against the vandalism of streetlights and the disposal of refuse in drainage systems.
Minister Nyesom Wike highlighted that this project fulfilled a pledge made to traders and local citizens during campaign events. Demonstrating the responsiveness of the administration, Wike secured immediate approval from the President to deploy construction crews to the Kaba-Kagini-Zaudna area, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and economic growth throughout the territory.
