The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shuttered 10 businesses throughout the state due to ongoing breaches of environmental standards. These infractions include generating excessive noise, polluting the air, and releasing untreated waste into drainage systems.
This enforcement action, which took place on July 1, 2026, occurred after the targeted businesses ignored numerous warnings and official abatement notices. State officials stated the closures are necessary to uphold environmental laws and safeguard the health of the public.
The penalized locations include Granduer Meridian and Lasola in Ipaja, Millennium Restaurant in Ayobo, O2 Exquisite Suites & Tower in Akowonjo, and several others like Chirozz Hotel & Suites, House 7, and House 48 in Egbeda. Additionally, Exclusive Hotel in Akesan, Sabola Ventures Limited in Igando, and City Int’l Motel in Idimu were shut down. Specific issues ranged from Sabola Ventures lacking an Effluent Treatment Plant to others failing to mitigate persistent noise levels.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized that the agency remains dedicated to environmental protection. He noted that maintaining clean surroundings is a shared duty and promised that enforcement efforts will continue to target those who compromise public health.
