Military forces shut down illegal gun factory and seize rifles in Kebbi

Military forces in Kebbi State dismantled an illegal weapons manufacturing site, arresting two suspects and seizing five locally produced AK-47 rifles.

Soldiers belonging to Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully neutralized an underground arms manufacturing ring in Kebbi State. The mission resulted in the seizure of five homemade AK-47 rifles and the capture of two individuals suspected of supplying weaponry to terrorist organizations.

Acting on reliable intelligence, the military raided a hidden facility where the suspects were producing and hoarding illegal firearms to avoid detection. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the spokesperson for the operation, confirmed the success of the mission on Thursday. He noted that the raid was a joint effort with other security agencies, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in breaking down criminal supply chains throughout the North-West region.

The two detainees are now in military custody for questioning as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the network, including potential financiers and other involved parties. The Theatre Command expressed gratitude for the soldiers’ professional conduct and called on local residents to keep providing actionable information to help secure the area.
