History Makers: The Two African Stars Who Found the Net in Three Consecutive World Cup Games

FIFA confirms that Senegal’s Ismaïla Sarr and Morocco’s Ismael Saibari are the sole African players to score in three consecutive World Cup matches.

FIFA has identified the only two African athletes to register goals in three straight World Cup fixtures. Senegal’s Ismaïla Sarr and Morocco’s Ismael Saibari currently hold this distinction.

Ismaïla Sarr earned his place on the list following his performance in Senegal’s 3-2 loss to Belgium during the Round of 32. Prior to this match, the 28-year-old Crystal Palace attacker found the back of the net against Iraq and secured two goals in a game against Norway.

Ismael Saibari, age 25, reached the milestone by scoring in matches against Haiti, Scotland, and Brazil. Although Saibari did not score during his 120 minutes of play against the Netherlands, he successfully converted the deciding penalty kick, advancing Morocco to a Round of 16 match against Canada.
