Violence in Plateau Leaves Two Dead and Four Suspected Assailants Neutralised

Violence in Plateau State has resulted in the deaths of two local residents in Barkin Ladi and the neutralisation of four alleged attackers in a separate confrontation in Jos South.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) has reported two distinct violent incidents in Plateau State. In Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, two men identified as 33-year-old Ayuba Danladi and 35-year-old Luka Macham were shot and killed while performing community patrol duties in the Zargwok area of Gashish District at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Their bodies have been taken to the ECWA Clinic.

Regarding a separate incident in Jos South, the association addressed reports from the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) concerning four deaths. The BYM stated that these individuals were killed following an assault on a mining operation in Nyango, Gyel District, on June 29. During that event, three miners were killed and two were injured. Local vigilantes intervened, resulting in a clash that ended with four of the suspected attackers being neutralised.

Rwang Tengwong, the BYM National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement denouncing the ongoing community violence. The organization is demanding an immediate, unbiased investigation by security forces to identify those responsible. Furthermore, they are calling on authorities to increase security measures to safeguard vulnerable residents and restore regional stability. The Plateau State Police Command has not yet provided a comment on these developments.
