Defense Minister Musa Reports Drop in Niger Delta Criminality

Defense Minister Christopher Musa reports a decrease in criminal activities in the Niger Delta and highlights improved oil production and community collaboration.

General Christopher Musa, the Minister of Defense, has announced a notable decline in piracy, armed robbery, and other illicit acts within the Niger Delta. Following a private discussion with oil and gas industry representatives at the 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Musa highlighted the positive trends in regional security.

The minister explained that this session was part of an ongoing initiative to evaluate operational progress and address persistent obstacles in the petroleum sector. While he acknowledged there is still room for improvement, he credited the military for their constant efforts to stabilize the zone. Musa noted that oil production figures have significantly exceeded contractual targets.

To bolster these gains, local community leaders were included in the dialogue to ensure their perspectives influence future security and production strategies. A primary focus of the meeting was the urgent need to build greater confidence between local residents and oil companies, as stability remains essential for sustained development.
