The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that nine political parties have successfully obtained the necessary access codes to submit their candidate details for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. Malam Mohammed Haruna, the National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, confirmed this update in Abuja on Tuesday.
The participating parties include Accord, Action Alliance, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, Labour Party, National Democratic Congress, National Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, and the Social Democratic Party. Haruna clarified that political organizations are required to request these codes from the commission directly, rather than waiting for INEC to distribute them. Representatives must provide an official authorization letter from their party leadership to receive access.
Haruna urged parties to follow the established nomination guidelines and avoid delaying their digital submissions until the final hours. Although INEC has extended the daily deadline to midnight, officials warned that the commission will not accept responsibility if parties miss the cut-off by waiting until the last minute. The window for submitting federal candidate nominations is open from June 27 to July 11, while the portal for state-level candidates will operate from July 18 to August 8.
