Suffolk students surprised by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson during school trip

Pupils from St Gregory Primary School in Sudbury were stunned when their London school trip included a surprise red-carpet meeting with actor Dwayne Johnson at a Moana-themed event.

Young learners from St Gregory Primary School in Sudbury experienced an unforgettable day when a planned London excursion evolved into a personal encounter with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Approximately 50 pupils traveled to the capital expecting a standard outing, only to arrive at an exclusive Moana Experience event.

This special meeting was the result of a collaboration between Disney and the school’s headteacher, Daniel Woodrow. The partnership blossomed after the students created a viral social media video in January aimed at capturing the actor’s attention. Responding to their plea, the former wrestling star previously promised the group a private cinema screening of the upcoming live-action Moana film, complete with paid refreshments.

During the event at Potters Field Park, Johnson spent significant time interacting with the Years 3 and 4 students. He filmed videos with the children and shared lighthearted moments, expressing that connecting with fans is a highlight of his career. Woodrow remarked that the students were unaware of the encounter until it happened, making the experience deeply impactful for the children.
