NSCDC Urges FCT Residents to Help Guard Public Infrastructure

NSCDC FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu is appealing to Abuja residents to report vandalism of public property and has warned private security firms to ensure their licenses are valid.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is asking Federal Capital Territory residents to help safeguard national assets by flagging suspicious behavior and vandalism. During a Monday session in Abuja, FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu emphasized that destroying public property hinders national progress and wastes government resources.

Odumosu stressed that citizens share the duty of protecting these facilities. He encouraged the public to share intelligence immediately, noting that ignoring criminal damage is a major problem. The NSCDC has increased 24-hour patrols across the capital and plans to prosecute anyone caught damaging essential infrastructure.

The Commandant also issued a warning to Private Guard Companies. Those operating with expired or forged licenses must update their paperwork immediately. Firms that fail to comply will face potential closure and legal action. This initiative follows widespread damage to pipelines, power lines, and rail assets, which have caused significant economic disruption nationwide.
