Obidient Movement Claims APC Manipulates Judiciary to Cripple Political Rivals

The Obidient Movement alleges that the APC is using the judiciary to disqualify Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the 2027 presidential election by targeting the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

The Obidient Movement has asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s government is exploiting the court system to handicap opposition parties in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. The group contends that recent legal rulings regarding the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) are politically charged, suggesting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has effectively turned the judiciary into a weapon against its opponents.

Specifically, the movement claims that a recent High Court judgment in Lokoja was a calculated effort to block Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from participating in the next presidential race. Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, addressed the media in Abuja, arguing that the judiciary is failing to maintain its impartiality by siding with the ruling party. Tanko suggested that the legal challenge against the NDC was initiated by a proxy group after Obi joined the party, aiming to obstruct his political future.

Dr. Tanko warned that the perceived alignment of the judiciary with the APC poses a significant risk to Nigeria’s democratic stability. He argued that when the judicial system appears to serve powerful political interests rather than the rule of law, it damages public trust. Despite these claims, the movement encouraged its followers to remain calm and peaceful, reaffirming its belief that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket will successfully appear on the 2027 ballot.
