Nigerian Navy assists in rescue efforts following Lagos building collapse

The Nigerian Navy successfully rescued survivors from a collapsed building in Lagos, transporting victims to their hospital for urgent medical care.

Personnel from the Nigerian Navy successfully retrieved individuals pinned under rubble after a structure gave way in the Alakija district of Lagos. According to an official announcement from Abuja released by Naval Information Director Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the service acted immediately upon receiving reports of the emergency.

Navy teams worked alongside other first responders to extract survivors from the ruins, transporting them to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Ojo for critical care. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, praised the rescue units and medical staff for their efficient response. He also acknowledged the support provided by the public and fellow emergency agencies during the operation.

Vice Admiral Abbas expressed condolences to those impacted by the tragedy and wished the injured a quick recovery. He reaffirmed that the Navy remains prepared to assist civil authorities whenever such emergencies arise, fulfilling its mandate to provide humanitarian support to the public.
