Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has called on government authorities to boost funding for education, specifically emphasizing medical training. He stated that national development is impossible without robust investment in human capital. During a visit to the School of Nursing Sciences in Emekuku, Imo State, Obi highlighted that healthcare workers are vital to societal health and economic productivity.
Addressing the students, Obi noted that their profession is essential to the world. He emphasized that his ongoing tours of institutions across Nigeria are intended to promote investment in key sectors. According to the former governor, leadership should prioritize functional institutions that cultivate skilled professionals and offer equitable opportunities. He expressed a desire to see a country where success is accessible to everyone, regardless of their social background.
Obi commended the progress made by the nursing school since his previous visit and donated N15 million to support its operations. The hospital director, Rev. Fr. Justin Okoro, praised Obi for his dedication to humanitarian welfare and his consistent focus on accountability in leadership.
