Bayo Onanuga Criticizes Peter Obi’s Recent Television Appearance

Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has criticized Peter Obi’s recent interview, disputing his claims regarding political history and the 2023 election results.

Bayo Onanuga, who serves as the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has publicly expressed disapproval of a recent interview featuring Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party. The interview took place this past Sunday on Channels Television and has sparked varied responses across social media platforms regarding Obi’s political future and his views on national governance.

Onanuga shared his perspective on Monday, stating he stopped watching after 30 minutes and characterized the performance as a failure in public relations. He specifically addressed two points from the interview. First, he disputed Obi’s comparison between his own political party shifts and the career history of President Tinubu. Onanuga asserted that Tinubu has remained committed to the progressive movement since entering politics in the early 1990s, beginning with the Social Democratic Party.

Second, Onanuga rejected Obi’s assertion that he was the rightful winner of the 2023 presidential election. He emphasized that Obi finished in third place, suggesting that his performance was heavily bolstered by regional bloc votes rather than broad national support. Onanuga further criticized Obi for continuing to dispute the election outcome despite the Supreme Court ruling, urging the former governor to acknowledge his defeat and move past his current mindset.
