The Allied People’s Movement (APM) announced on Sunday that its strategic alliance discussions with opposition groups are producing tangible outcomes. As the 2027 general election approaches, the party is intensifying efforts to build cross-party momentum for its presidential flagbearer, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. The APM leadership remains optimistic that this coalition will successfully challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
Abubakar Yusuf, the APM National Publicity Secretary, explained that initial private political dialogues are now transitioning into visible public endorsements. He highlighted a recent event in Ado-Ekiti, where numerous members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) publicly declared their support for Makinde. Significantly, these individuals have chosen to back the governor while maintaining their affiliation with the PDP.
According to Yusuf, the Ekiti endorsement serves as a significant catalyst for their campaign. He noted that the party is focused on securing victory and views Makinde’s administrative record in Oyo State—spanning security, infrastructure, and economic management—as a compelling alternative to the current administration. Yusuf characterized the Governor as a magnetic figure for Nigerian voters, particularly the youth demographic.
The APM spokesperson emphasized that the party is actively expanding its grassroots infrastructure to support a robust, issue-oriented campaign. He reiterated that an APM-led government would prioritize national prosperity, security, and transparent governance. The party has extended an open invitation for citizens who support their vision of national renewal to join the movement as they prepare for the 2027 contest.
