Armed intruders repelled by security at NIPSS in Plateau State

Security forces in Plateau State successfully thwarted an attempted intrusion at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) early Monday morning.

Security personnel successfully stopped an attempt by armed suspects to breach the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South, Plateau State. The event took place early Monday morning around 1:30 a.m. when guards identified unusual activity near the premises.

The responders moved quickly to secure the site, compelling the suspects to retreat into the surrounding wilderness. No injuries occurred, and the institute continues to operate as usual. Officials from the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace could not be reached for comment, nor did NIPSS management provide a statement.

This security attempt follows a federal order issued less than two weeks ago to bolster protection for critical institutions. Vice President Kashim Shettima previously stated that President Bola Tinubu ordered a comprehensive security audit of such sites. Proposed upgrades include better surveillance, stronger perimeter defenses, and a larger guard presence. The Vice President also pledged that anyone involved in past security lapses at the location will face legal consequences.
