Two young girls, identified as 11-year-old Fatima Adamu and seven-year-old Rahima Adamu, recently fled a Boko Haram stronghold located in the Mandara Mountains. They successfully surrendered to the Nigerian military’s Operation HADIN KAI in the Gwoza area of Borno State on July 21.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the pair arrived at the C Company, 192 Battalion Mechanised position at approximately 3:55 p.m. Following their arrival, soldiers conducted standard screening and documentation processes. The children are presently held at the 192 Battalion facility for additional administrative evaluation.
Military operations have forced an increasing number of women and children to abandon camps operated by Boko Haram and ISWAP. While regional security remains stable, forces continue to apply pressure on remaining insurgent pockets throughout the North-East.
