Operation Hadin Kai soldiers capture ISWAP informant plotting Borno base raids

Operation Hadin Kai troops have apprehended an ISWAP suspect accused of plotting attacks on two military bases in Borno State following credible intelligence reports.

Soldiers under Operation Hadin Kai successfully captured a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) member who was allegedly planning strikes on two Borno State military outposts. Muhammad Shuaibu was detained by personnel from the 212 Battalion at the Forward Operating Base in Chabbol, acting on specific intelligence regarding a looming threat.

Reports from the counter-insurgency outlet Zagazola Makama indicate that Shuaibu was discovered during a patrol near the perimeter ditch of the base. Intelligence reports had signaled a high risk of an imminent assault, leading the military to heighten their alertness. During questioning, the suspect reportedly confirmed the existence of the plot, asserting that his capture would not deter the insurgent group from their objectives.

Following the arrest, military commanders bolstered security at both the Mosquito Camp and the Chabbol base to thwart potential incursions. Shuaibu is currently in the custody of the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for deep-dive questioning. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by regional forces to weaken insurgent command structures throughout North-East Nigeria.
