Kwankwaso and Dickson Confer Following NDC Legal Setback

Rabiu Kwankwaso and Seriake Dickson have met to strategize after a Federal High Court overturned the registration status of the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigerian Democratic Congress vice presidential nominee, held discussions with party leader Seriake Dickson this Sunday regarding the recent judicial ruling concerning the group’s registration status with the Independent National Electoral Commission. On Friday, the Federal High Court in Lokoja reversed a December 2025 decision that had previously mandated the electoral commission to recognize the NDC as an official party. Justice Isah Dashen ruled that the initial judgment was procedurally flawed because not all relevant parties had been heard. This reversal was prompted by an appeal from the Peace Movement Party, which successfully argued that it was a necessary participant in the proceedings. The court’s pivot has sparked accusations that the current administration is influencing judicial outcomes.

Senator Dickson confirmed via Facebook that he and Kwankwaso met to address matters vital to the party. He emphasized that leadership remains committed to defending a multi-party democratic system and is actively working to overturn the recent ruling. The NDC leadership claims they are successfully navigating this legal challenge, framing the court’s decision as a mere distraction from their broader political goals.
