The Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of withholding the essential access codes required to submit their candidate list to the official nomination portal. This issue arises as the coalition actively works to contest a recent Federal High Court ruling that mandated its deregistration.
Osa Director, the party’s national spokesman, stated that representatives sought the necessary credentials from INEC officials to finalize their online submissions. However, commission staff reportedly delayed the process by promising to follow up later, which effectively prevented the party from meeting the nomination deadline before the court order took effect.
Director emphasized that this situation reflects an administrative hurdle imposed by the commission rather than a failure of the party itself. The NDC intends to re-engage with INEC officials and is concurrently pursuing a stay of execution in court to pause the enforcement of the deregistration order.
