Explosive Device Attack on Sokoto Road Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

One person was killed and several others were wounded after their vehicle hit a roadside bomb planted by suspected bandits in Sokoto State.

A vehicle traveling along the Kurawa–Sabon Birni road in Sokoto State struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries among the passengers. The attack has intensified anxieties regarding the increasing utilization of explosives by criminal factions within North-West Nigeria.

According to reports, the car was transporting commuters toward Sabon Birni when it detonated the device. The force of the blast caused extensive damage to the vehicle and harmed several individuals on board. Local security analyst Bashir Guyawa confirmed the event via social media, highlighting that the recurring violence continues to threaten border-area residents.

Guyawa noted that the victims were caught in the explosion during a standard transit route. This tragedy underscores the ongoing difficulty of securing travel corridors in the region against insurgent activity.
