Wyatt-Hodge leads England to semi-final with unbeaten 89

England breezed into the T20 World Cup semi-finals after Danni Wyatt-Hodge hit an unbeaten 89 to steer them past New Zealand in their final group match.

England extended their winning streak at the T20 World Cup, securing a convincing nine-wicket victory over New Zealand in their concluding group stage match at The Oval. Having already locked up the top spot in Group 2, England chased down the target of 164 with 16 balls remaining.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge proved instrumental, finishing unbeaten on 89 to become the tournament’s top run-scorer. She partnered with Sophia Dunkley, who contributed an undefeated 49, as the duo put together a match-winning stand of 128. New Zealand managed 163-6, hindered by a brief period where England claimed three wickets in four deliveries without giving up a run.

Sophie Devine provided a late spark in her final international match with a quick 30, but the result remained largely controlled by the English side. England now await their semi-final opponents, likely India or South Africa, with the match scheduled to take place at The Oval. Should they progress, the team will look to claim their first World Cup title since 2017 in the upcoming final at Lord’s.
