The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled a power interruption affecting parts of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Yobe states, alongside Gazaoua in the Niger Republic. Ndidi Mbah, the organization’s spokesperson, confirmed the news on Saturday.
This disruption stems from essential maintenance work planned for Sunday at the Kumbotos 330kV transmission substation. The project involves upgrading 330kV bus II jumpers and swapping current 350mm² conductors for 800mm² versions. TCN officials stated this work is necessary to reinforce the transmission network and boost overall power stability.
During this period, the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), along with portions of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), will be unable to supply electricity to their consumers in the affected regions.
