Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has alleged that federal authorities are actively trying to prevent his participation in the 2027 election. Speaking at a leadership event hosted by the NextGen Mentorship and Leadership Initiative at Madonna University, Okija, Obi remained defiant against these alleged efforts.
Addressing the recent Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that revoked the registration of the NDC, Obi emphasized that such setbacks will not deter his movement. He urged supporters to remain peaceful while insisting that his focus remains on fixing Nigeria rather than personal power. During his speech, he challenged other presidential contenders, including President Bola Tinubu, to a public debate, asserting that he remains the most qualified candidate to address the nation’s insecurity and economic challenges.
Obi reiterated that his motivation for running is not based on his ethnic background but on a vision for a country where opportunity is accessible to all. He stated that his primary goal is to foster a functional system where the underprivileged can succeed. Criticizing the current state of governance, Obi attributed Nigeria’s struggles to a lack of leadership commitment and warned that reactionary forces are attempting to undermine democratic progress.
