Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to protecting all citizens, asserting that public safety remains his top priority. During a meeting in Abeokuta with Deputy Inspector General of Police Fayoade Adegoke, the Governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi, emphasized the need to move beyond traditional policing.
Recognizing that current threats require advanced solutions, the administration is shifting toward a technology-reliant strategy. To bolster these efforts, the government recently provided 65 new patrol vehicles to security agencies. Governor Abiodun also praised Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni for his effective leadership within the Gateway Shield initiative.
DIG Fayoade Adegoke highlighted the strategic economic significance of Ogun State, noting that its proximity to international borders demands specialized security measures. He advocated for increased investment in high-performance patrol vehicles and surveillance drones to effectively combat cross-border crime. The police chief encouraged the state to build on recent successes in apprehending criminals by further modernizing its surveillance infrastructure.
