The Nigerian Army has officially refuted reports suggesting it is currently requesting financial contributions for the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL). Military leadership issued a warning regarding criminals distributing counterfeit documents and sponsorship bids to banks, companies, and government offices.
Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, clarified that any fundraising solicitation lacking formal, authorized military approval is a criminal scam. NADCEL 2026 is slated to mark the 163rd anniversary of the institution between July 1 and July 6, 2026. Official communications for this event will only appear through verified military channels.
The force has urged the public and corporate sector to remain vigilant. They stressed that the Nigerian Army does not endorse private individuals or groups to collect money on its behalf. Authorities promised that any individuals caught forging official documentation or impersonating military personnel will face full prosecution. Citizens are advised to contact nearby security agencies if they encounter any suspicious requests for funding.
