Members of militant groups have begun surrendering their weapons following intense pressure from the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army under Operation Udo Ka. This shift follows coordinated military actions and intelligence gathering aimed at destabilizing criminal networks in the region.
The Army noted that the retreat of these militants was prompted by the continuous offensive led by the 34 Artillery Brigade, particularly after the arrest of individuals connected to the death of a soldier. In Egbema, militants voluntarily gave up their arms and revealed hidden caches to the authorities. Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and various locally made firearms.
Concurrently, troops in Sector 5 utilized intelligence reports to locate and seize two General Purpose Machine Guns and an Improvised Explosive Device. Officials stated these recoveries significantly hinder the ability of criminal groups to disturb the peace. The Army emphasized that its strategy, which combines direct military force with non-kinetic efforts and inter-agency cooperation, is successfully forcing insurgents to abandon illegal activities.
Commanders reaffirmed their dedication to neutralizing threats throughout the South-East to ensure long-term stability. The public is encouraged to continue sharing intelligence, as authorities view community cooperation as essential to maintaining these security improvements.
