Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, recently announced that the Nigerian military has severely weakened terrorist organizations within the country. This progress is attributed to joint operations with international partners, specifically the United Kingdom, the United States, and France.
During a quarterly briefing in Abuja, the General explained that persistent tactical efforts have dismantled the leadership and logistics of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram. By neutralizing key commanders and cutting off supply routes, the armed forces have successfully undermined the operational reach of these insurgents.
Undiandeye emphasized that Nigeria is significantly safer today. Enhanced intelligence gathering, combined with advanced technology and foreign cooperation, has allowed the military to contain threats that previously destabilized the nation. He noted that these briefings serve to provide foreign representatives with factual security data, countering inaccurate reports found on social media.
Maj. Gen. Ojogbane Adegbe highlighted that these meetings foster vital communication between Nigeria’s security agencies and foreign defence attachés. The event was attended by officials from major security institutions, including the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the various branches of the armed forces.
