Sokoto Government Assures Public Over Security Concerns Regarding Bello Turji

The Sokoto State government says it is tracking the activities of bandit leader Bello Turji and has provided extra resources to security forces to ensure the safety of its citizens.

The Sokoto State administration is calling for public calm as it actively tracks security updates regarding reports that bandit leader Bello Turji has obtained sophisticated weaponry and recruited mercenaries to instruct his followers.

Retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, confirmed that security personnel are actively observing regions frequently targeted by bandits and are implementing measures to mitigate risks. He emphasized that the government treats intelligence reports with gravity and is collaborating with military and police forces to protect state stability.

To bolster these efforts, the state has provided security agencies with essential tools, including operational vehicles, motorcycles, communication gear, and fuel. Governor Aliyu has also authorized funding to enhance intelligence gathering and community-led protection programs.

Usman pointed out that criminals frequently rely on fear-mongering tactics to intimidate citizens, but he maintained that the state’s security apparatus remains fully equipped to neutralize such threats. He encouraged residents to stay alert, cooperate with officials, and report suspicious activities while remaining law-abiding.

The government remains dedicated to partnering with security stakeholders to ensure the safety and ongoing peace of communities throughout Sokoto State.
