Under the ongoing Operation Delta Sentinel, the Nigerian Navy has intercepted large quantities of stolen oil in Rivers State. Personnel from the Forward Operating Base in Bonny discovered two pits holding roughly 24,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil near the Bethel Community. The team found various hoses used for tapping into oil infrastructure and dismantled the illegal refinery site according to standard protocols.
In a separate action, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder intercepted a boat carrying approximately 17,000 litres of suspected illegal Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) along the Onne/Okrika waterways. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho noted that authorities are currently working to track down the individuals involved in the illegal transport.
These actions represent a broader strategy to disrupt criminal supply chains and prevent economic damage to the country. The Navy continues to prioritize intelligence-led missions to secure maritime borders and protect essential oil infrastructure from theft.
