Stakeholders and former members of the All Progressives Congress from Katsina, Jigawa, and Kano have announced their shift in allegiance toward Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim and the Accord party for the upcoming 2027 presidential race. This decision, finalized during regional mobilization gatherings, stems from widespread frustration regarding national security, the current economic climate, and general governance.
Ambassador Aisha Ibrahim, the Women Leader for the Hashim Progressive Movement, emphasized their past success in securing a victory for President Tinubu in 2023, asserting that they are now fully committed to repeating that outcome for Dr. Hashim. High-profile figures like Mallam Goje Bashir have publicly renounced their previous ties to the APC, citing a failure by the current administration to manage the country effectively. Similarly, Hajia Rabi Fagge suggested that the Accord party is poised to gain significant traction among northern voters.
State-level coordinators in Jigawa and Katsina, specifically Abdulrasheed Ali and Muhammad Abdullahi, highlighted that their grassroots efforts are focused on promoting a leader who addresses the dire economic realities of the populace. Abdulrazaq Hamzat, leading the representatives for the presidential hopeful, noted that this movement welcomes individuals from various political affiliations. The campaign’s primary goals remain centered on restoring security, fostering job creation, and improving social welfare across the nation.
