Tinubu Praises FCT Transformation Under Minister Wike’s Tenure

President Bola Tinubu and other high-ranking officials have praised Nyesom Wike for his effective leadership and the rapid completion of infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory.

President Bola Tinubu has lauded the ongoing improvements within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under Minister Nyesom Wike, marking a significant milestone half a century after the city’s establishment. This commendation was delivered by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Friday during a celebration marking the completion of 31 projects across the territory within just 28 days.

The President highlighted that genuine leadership is defined by visible results rather than mere rhetoric. He emphasized that the capital serves as a hub for national unity and opportunity, noting that the new infrastructure projects facilitate better connections and growth for all citizens. Aliyu Modibbo, representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, echoed these sentiments, labeling Wike as one of the most effective ministers the territory has seen and suggesting that his tenure should be extended to ensure the completion of his initiatives.

Minister Wike attributed the recent success to his efforts to revitalize a demoralized workforce. By establishing the FCT Civil Service Commission, he provided a clear career progression path for civil servants. He also noted that financial autonomy, specifically the removal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account, allowed his administration to access the necessary capital to revive and complete long-abandoned projects. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Julius Berger Managing Director, Dr. Peer Lubasch, both praised the rapid pace of development and the minister’s dedication to modernizing the city’s infrastructure.
