With the Osun State gubernatorial race set for August 15, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a boost as several of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s aides and notable Accord Party figures joined its ranks.
The defectors include Moyoade Lukman, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Affairs, and Azeez Kazeem, a Senior Special Assistant in the Governor’s Office. Joining them are Accord Party members Dr. Leye Olagbaju, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Ife Federal Constituency, alongside youth leader Asamo Gbenga and Ojuolape Olagbaju.
During a press briefing at Ileri-Oluwa House in Osogbo, Dr. Olagbaju expressed his belief that APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is the right choice to advance the state, pledging to utilize his established political network to support Oyebamiji’s electoral success. Lukman described his move as a return to his original political roots, noting that his time away solidified his choice.
Wole Oke, Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, formally welcomed the new members, guaranteeing them full integration and equal standing within the party. Oke asserted that the party is confident of electoral victory, hinting that additional government officials and even commissioners are planning to resign from the current administration to join the APC in the near future.
