Labour Party National Chairman Senator Nenadi Usman has called on politicians to move past hostility and ensure the 2027 elections center on substantive policy debates rather than conflict. She delivered these remarks in Jos during the 80th birthday ceremony of former Plateau State Governor Senator Jonah David Jang.
According to a statement from party spokesperson Ken Asogwa, Usman emphasized that Nigeria’s future relies on leaders prioritizing national welfare over individual or partisan agendas. She argued that the electoral process should highlight competence and character, noting that citizens share the same country once the voting concludes. Consequently, she urged politicians to exercise restraint in their rhetoric to prevent political friction from damaging national unity.
Usman further reflected on the legacy of Senator Jonah Jang, praising his extensive background in the military and his tenure as a senator and governor. She noted that his career exemplifies the values of duty and sacrifice, setting a standard for public service.
