The African Democratic Congress in Rivers State has declared its intent to push back against any attempts at intimidation. Party spokesperson Luckyman Egila released a statement on Thursday addressing recent developments.
Egila pointed to a viral video featuring Samuel Wanosike, who reportedly issued threats against ADC members and discouraged political meetings in the Ikwerre Local Government Area. The party described these remarks as a reckless and provocative attack on democratic principles.
The ADC emphasized that Rivers State is governed by law, not brute force. Egila asserted that no single person or group dictates where citizens can gather or participate in politics. He maintained that the party will continue its operations, including member mobilization and public engagement, across all 23 local government areas. Furthermore, the ADC has formally requested that the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services investigate the incident to ensure peace and protect the democratic rights of its members.
