Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti officially accepted his certificate of return on Tuesday following his win in the recent gubernatorial election. Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, presented the document at the commission’s Ado-Ekiti headquarters on behalf of the INEC Chairman.
Dr. Omoseyindemi praised the governor-elect and lauded the residents of Ekiti for maintaining peace during the voting process. He noted that the smooth election served as proof of a shared dedication to robust democratic governance within the region, urging all political participants to remain committed to those democratic principles.
Upon accepting the certification, Governor Oyebanji thanked the public for extending his tenure, calling the victory a win for both development and democracy. He highlighted the significance of the result, noting that he is the first governor in Ekiti to win consecutive terms through a popular vote.
The governor expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s support and acknowledged the various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, APC members, and security agencies, for ensuring a calm electoral environment. Looking ahead, Oyebanji committed to furthering his ‘Shared Prosperity Agenda,’ with plans to prioritize job creation, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, and education to serve the state’s population more effectively.
