Fulani Organization Advocates for Enhanced Security Cooperation in South-West Nigeria

The Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria has urged herders in the South-West to continue cooperating with local communities and security agencies to combat crime and promote regional peace.

The Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria (CFPN) has called on pastoralists residing in the South-West to maintain active collaboration with law enforcement and local residents. This initiative aims to bolster regional stability and mitigate criminal threats. In a statement released Tuesday in Kaduna, CFPN leader Ibrahim Chubado emphasized the necessity of supporting government security programs by sharing vital information regarding illegal activities in rural and grazing zones.

Chubado highlighted that insecurity should not lead to the unfair labeling of peaceful Fulani residents, arguing that criminal behavior is an individual concern rather than an ethnic or religious one. He noted that the recent comments from Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, serve as a constructive step toward easing regional tensions and fostering better community relations, particularly in Oyo State’s Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun districts.

The group asserted that Fulani herders have frequently assisted security forces in identifying kidnappers and other criminals. Furthermore, the CFPN emphasized that conflicts between farmers and herders are generally settled through established mediation processes. The organization concluded by urging government officials and community leaders to ensure the protection of all pastoralists, who are also victims of crimes like cattle rustling, while reaffirming their dedication to lawful economic practices and national unity.
